Back to school is a party!
With four children, we had many first days of school. There’s some nerve, some excitement. But there’s always a party! We make a point of celebrating each new milestone, and the first days of school are no exception.
This month I had the honor of sharing some of my back to school inspiration in the first issue of Life is a party magazine. You can order a copy Here.

From fun traditions to delicious snacks and treats, I’ll tell you how our family is growing closer as the school year begins. I hope it inspires you to create wonderful memories of the first day of school with your kids!

Make it special from breakfast to bedtime
Because childhood is so short, we turn special days like the first day of school into celebrations that last all day. And for back to school, that means filling their tummies and their spirits!

Ready confetti!
I love the message on this little Ready Confetti card. It is such a beautiful reminder for our children that they are special and loved. Pair this colorful card with an adorable confetti keychain or small confetti-filled bag for your child to carry with them. This way they’ll be reminded to keep up the shine wherever they go!

Breakfast on the first day of school
Fill them up before sending them out with a super fun and delicious breakfast for day one. A hearty meal of all your favorite dishes and of course a fun holiday treat too. Here is one of our favorite menus for the first day of school:

The star of the show is definitely the confetti pancake cake. Sweet whipped cream topping sandwiched between layers of homemade confetti pancakes and topped with even more whipped cream and sprinkles. Sure, I balance it out with nutritious scrambled eggs, baked bacon, and fruit. But we all know what her favorite is!
These fun confetti pancakes are fun anytime. But when you stack them with Cool Whip and even more sprinkles, it really is a pancake party!

Super cute and easy lunch box ideas
Keep things exciting throughout the day with a fun, healthy lunch prepared with love and personality. Fruit that smiles back or sandwiches cut into fun shapes – your kids will love these simple gestures that will make school lunch the highlight of their day.
Over the years I’ve managed to turn lunchboxes into a science. I keep a rotating menu of ingredients the kids love so I can quickly put together fun, healthy, easy school lunches that I know they will actually eat. The children enjoy the variety and I love the lightness!

After school snacks
If they come home hungry (and they will), you’re ready! I love keeping the back to school celebrations going with a really tasty afternoon snack! Or two! And here are two of my favorites!
Welcome your little students home in a delicious way with an after-school snack board. Packed with nutritious foods, fun snacks and a sweet treat or two, it’s the perfect way to recharge your batteries after a long day at school.

This Study Time snack mix gets top marks for flavor and fun! Popcorn, dried fruit and nuts, and sweet treats like M&Ms and mini-alphabet cookies. Sweet, salty and so delicious!
We always keep a bunch of this in a sealed container or jar in the pantry. It’s perfect for doing homework, preparing for exams, and locking in those reading minutes. For younger kids who don’t need to study, it’s a great after-school snack.

Questionnaire “My first day”.
The first few days are great. Great feelings, so many new experiences with teachers and friends. After such a big day, we like to give our kids a moment to think. With this My First Day Questionnaire, they can share all the things that made their first day great.
It’s such a positive end to the day and a lovely memory to remember. My kids love comparing them year after year and seeing how much has changed.

On a day full of innovations, I love creating traditions that bring us closer together. Sending the kids back to school with flair is one of our favorites. Not only does it seem to help calm those first day jitters, but it also helps us create memories that we will all cherish forever.
