Hatchimal Eggs
Have you seen the hatchimal eggs?
While my kids have loved Hatchimals all year, the Hatchimal Egg is perfect for an Easter egg hunt. I thought it would be fun to explore a Hatchimal egg hunt with kids this year.
This Easter we’re changing our traditional Easter egg hunt by adding a new surprise – Hatchimals CollEGGtibles!

Hatchimal Eggs for fun Easter egg hunts
Instead of spending hours decorating plastic eggs with candy and trinkets that will only make our house messier, we decided to put a Hatchimals twist on our egg hunt.

For this Easter egg hunt activity we used:

Hatchimals, our favorite egg-living creatures, can also be collected in a smaller version, the Hatchimals CollEGGtibles, perfect for egg hunts.
There are over 100 Hatchimals CollEGGtibles to collect. Other Hatchimals perfect for Easter and Easter egg hunts:
What family is my Hatchimal from?
If you’re wondering what family your Hatchimal is from, look at its color. The mottled color of the eggs tells you which family they are from:
- Green = forest
- Red = farm
- Purple = jungle
- Pink = garden
- Light blue = river
- Yellow = savanna
- Brown = desert
- Light blue = ocean
- Crimson pink = Magic Meadow
- Off-white = Snowflake Shire
- Crimson Blue = Crystal Canyon
For a better experience, maybe make a template to leave in the basket so they know where their little toys came from!

How to Hatch a Hatchimal
To hatch, the Hatchimal needs your help!
Step 1 – Hatch a Hatchimal
Rub the heart onto the egg and when it changes from purple to pink you know it’s ready to hatch!
Step 2 – Hatch a Hatchimal
Push your thumb into the heart until the egg bursts.

Step 3 – Hatch a Hatchimal
Peel off the shell to reveal your Hatchimal!

Step 4 – Hatch a Hatchimal
You can remove the shell to the wavy line to create a small nest for your Hatchimal.
Look how cute they look sitting on the bottom of the egg. Everyone has an adorable Hatchimal! They look like magical creatures!

Hosting a Hatchimal Easter Egg Hunt
The adults hid the Hatchimals CollEGGtibles in our backyard and even included a HUGE Hatchimals surprise as the grand prize.
The kids were so excited to find it <– we made sure it was *really* well hidden!

I made Easter baskets for each child and when they came outside they grabbed a basket.

When it came time to hunt, they went in search of the eggs!

We had boys and girls from 8 to 3 years old and everyone had a great time.

They couldn’t wait to open their Hatchimals!

And when the Hatchimals hatched, they couldn’t wait to play with them! They had so many new friends to play with that came out of this printed heart egg.

Preferred Hatchimals have been identified during hunting.

The kids had so much fun hatching and playing with their Hatchimals at the end of the hunt.
We like to call my nephew Eli the “expert finder”. He found the big egg just a few minutes after the hunt started!
He was so excited!

The hunt didn’t last long – it’s amazing how kids can find and collect dozens of eggs in just a few minutes! But that didn’t mean the fun was over. During our usual hunts, the children open their eggs and throw out the trinkets or sweets, which is quickly forgotten.
This time, however, the kids were able to hatch their CollEGGtibles and spent hours playing with their Hatchimals.
Using CollEGGtibles instead of traditional Easter eggs made the hunt 10x more exciting and left a cute little creature for the kids to keep!
