Today we are going to make a paper plate rainbow craft using a simple mosaic technique. Making a paper mosaic is a fun rainbow craft for kids of all ages, including younger kids (if you do a little prep work). This simple mosaic art technique uses paper mosaic tiles and could be used a million times in the classroom and at home, and the resulting rainbow art is really cool.

Step 1
Cut the paper plate in half and trim all but 1 inch from the center, creating a rainbow arch using the outside of the paper plate as the outer part of the rainbow.

Cut scrapbook paper into small squares. We like to use patterned paper, but you can easily create the squares for the mosaic with construction paper or plain paper.

Glue red squares around the outer edge.

Glue orange squares under the red squares.

Following the same pattern, glue squares along the rainbow: yellow, green, blue, purple.

- Cut the paper plate in 1/2 and cut out a 1/2 circle from the center to form an arch with the remaining paper plate.
- Cut scrapbook paper into 1 inch squares or use a square hole punch.
- Glue the paper squares in lines to create bands of color like a rainbow.
