Ingredients for the Espanyol Sauce Recipe

  • 1 onion
  • 1 carrot
  • 1 celery stalk
  • 2 tablespoons of butter
  • 2 tablespoons of flour
  • 1 liter of broth
  • 2 tablespoons of tomato puree
  • 1 teaspoon of salt

How to Make Espanyol Sauce

  • Melt the butter in a saucepan. Onions, potatoes, celery stalks and carrots are cut into large pieces. They are fried in butter by mixing for 5 minutes.
  • Meat broth, salt pepper and tomato puree are added to the roasted vegetables and mixed.
  • The sauce that simmers for 2 hours is filtered through cheesecloth.
