There are many different types of mythical creatures in the Harry Potter universe. The world of Harry Potter is overflowing with beasts, beings, ghosts and the unknown. There are many creatures found throughout the Harry Potter saga that fill the Harry Potter books making it one of the most popular series of all time.
The list of magical beasts is long, but here are some of our favorites:
- the house elf – immensely devoted and loyal to whoever is destined to be their master.
- The mandrake – a magical and sentient plant whose root looks like a human.
- The Unicorn – a white horse with a horn sticking out of its head and possessing magical properties.
- The Hippogriff – a creature that had the front legs, wings and head of a great eagle and the body, hind legs and tail of a horse.
- the troll – a magical beast of immense strength and immense stupidity
- The werewolf – a human who becomes an uncontrollable and deadly wolf at full moon.
- the phoenix – a large scarlet magical bird with red and gold plumage, along with a gold beak and claws, black eyes and a long tail.

- dragon – Huge winged, fire-breathing reptilian beasts.
- The lower – a dead body revived by a dark wizard’s spell, similar to a zombie.
- The Thestral – a race of winged horses with a skeletal body, a face with reptilian features, and broad, leathery wings resembling those of a bat.
