  • 1 1/2 tablespoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 8 tablespoons cold unsalted butter, cut into 1/2-inch pieces
  • 2 1/4 cups heavy cream, divided
  • 6 cups fresh stemmed California strawberries, divided
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Fresh mint for garnish

How to make strawberry shortcake from scratch

Step 1-4 Strawberry Shortcake Recipe - Combine the flour and butter and mix well until a dough forms
