Ingredients for Shchi Recipe
- 3 tablespoons butter
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 1 cabbage, grated
- 1 stalk of celery
- 1 carrot, grated
- 1 bay leaf
- 3 black peppercorns
- 2 liters water
- 2 potatoes, peeled and chopped
- 2 large tomatoes, peeled and chopped
- Salt
- Freshly ground black pepper

For the topping;
- Sour cream
- Dill
How to Make Shchi?
- Place the butter in the pot, add the chopped onions and fry until they turn colour.
- Add cabbage, carrot and celery to the colored onions and fry for about 5 minutes.
- Add bay leaves and black peppercorns. Add water and let it cook.
- After 15 minutes, add the potatoes and cook for another 10 minutes.
- Finally, add the tomatoes and cook for another 5 minutes and remove the black peppercorns and bay leaf.
- Serve with sour cream and dill.
